I help people who have been impacted by life’s hardships and devastating moments find relief and live meaningful lives. I have 20 years of experience treating people affected by post-traumatic stress disorder, trauma, grief and loss, depression, anxiety, relationship problems, workplace challenges, and parenting questions. I am psychodynamically trained and oriented, which means I work in depth with my clients to help them uncover dynamics from the past that impact them in the here and now to help them develop insight and capacity for change. I have found that talking can greatly reduce stress and distress and can lead to significant change. People tend to find immediate relief after beginning the process. I also practice Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), which is a specific type of treatment that helps people work through traumas and areas where they are stuck in their lives and greatly reduces symptoms associated with these traumas.

I have a specialty in helping first responders and military veterans. For 14 years I worked at the New York City Fire Department’s Counseling Service Unit, most recently as the Clinical Director, treating first responders affected by the trauma and loss of 9/11 and other job exposures, and helping 9/11 family members work through their traumatic losses. I also ran a case management program that assisted post-9/11 veterans at Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America. In addition to this I have worked extensively with victims of partner abuse and sexual abuse.

Every person will have to confront trauma at one point in their life, whether it be a big T major trauma or a little t incident. Traumas impact our thinking and behaviors, our mind and our central nervous systems, in very specific ways. Therapy can help you understand how trauma has affected you and give you a road map for healing.


Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a specific type of treatment that helps people work through traumas and areas where they are stuck in their lives and greatly reduces symptoms associated with these traumas.


Well all experience loss in life and have to figure out how to cope and continue on. There is no formula for navigating the grief process, and everyone grieves differently. Therapy gives you a place to put your heavy feelings, encourages you to allow yourself to feel, and provides support as you figure out how to live without your loved one.


We all have a past that paved the road for who we are today. The way we have responded to those early events and relationships colors how we navigate the world today, both good and bad. Therapy can help you enhance what works and figure out how to change what does not.


First responders and military personnel encounter unique challenges in their work settings,where danger is intrinsic to the job. Historical events such as 9/11 and the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan can test normal coping mechanisms and contribute to PTSD, anxiety, depression, and substance abuse. Therapy can help identify and normalize these reactions and bring relief.
